Lady:
was a small female Bichon who was rescued from the local shelter.
Luckily we picked her up in a snow storm and noticed she was peeing blood.
We immediately rushed her to the vet where she was diagnosed with bladder
stones. After extensive surgery, where they removed a stone bigger than
her bladder, she was brought home for recuperation. When first she
arrived, she hid under the bed or in a kennel, but within a couple months, she
was sleeping ON the bed, and even blitzed a few times! She has been
adopted by a lady here close to us who has another Bichon and a couple large
rescue dogs she has taken in. Lady has since become the Lady of the House,
and is wrapping everyone around her little paw. : )
Frosty:
was adopted from a shelter as a Christmas gift for a family who was
unwilling or unable to provide a home for him. He was brought to us as a
very timid little guy. We adopted him out to a wonderful older man who had
lost his dog of 14 years, and was sure Frosty was just like his old pet and was
thrilled to take him home.
NOVEMBER 1999
Princess: Was found in a shelter by one of our friends who called with an SOS to "GO GET HER!" so we did. She was found by the animal control people wandering in a field out in the sticks. When found she was so full of cock-a-burrs she could not even open her mouth. : ( Anyway, we brought her home, shaved her down and treated her for a horrible case of Kennel Cough. She was an ALPHA dog from the start, and with her bolt and run attitude we had to find a special home for her. This we did with Ari (a very loving Bichon) and Bob and Robyn, wonderful caring hu-parents who have hired a trainer and work with her on her behavior problems. All are living happily ever after.
October 1999
Reggie: Was with us almost a year! He suffered from anxiety attacks if left alone for any length of time, so a perfect family was hard to find. One found its way to us via our internet site. Reggie's new hu-mom saw his picture and decided he was the perfect pet for them. Even with his list of problems, they wanted to meet him. When they arrived, he jumped from lap to lap, and then went to the front door, looking back at Kenny and I as if to say, "See Ya!". So, with tears in our eyes, we packed his bag and bid him farewell. He is happily living as king of his castle with his new sisters: A Mastiff and a Labrador, 2 cats and an Iguana. He gets to go for car rides every nite and longer rides on the weekends, and has not had an anxiety attack since he left.
August 1999

Angel-is a hefty little Bichon (18 pounds!) who was found in the Kansas shelter by Harley's mom. She came here via Nebraska with our other rescue Charlie. Angel was adopted by
Denise and Mike who are owned by Snowball, and she is happily being spoiled rotten.
Charlie: was a traveling man. He came to us via Nebraska and Kansas. He is aprox. 5 years old and was a "stud" dog - probably from a puppy mill. He is terrified of people, although he loves other dogs and is constantly smiling and wagging his tail. He has been adopted by an older couple who have done rescues before. Margarget came in here and just took control of him. She took him on the leash outside and when he wouldn't come to her, she picked him up and held him till he finally smile at her. By the time they left, he was happily sitting at Bills feet while Margaret filled out paper work for his adoption. They live out on 5 acreas in the boonies, and they stated - "We need a dog, and Charlie needs a family" so we all agree it is a perfect match.
July 1999
Pepper- 9 month old female purchased from a Pet Store by an older woman living in an apartmant who found out her lease prohibited pets. She tried to place puppy on her own and was unable to find new owners. We bought her and placed her with an older couple who adore her and take her everywhere they go!
She is the RX for her hu-dad who had a heart attack recently, and needs her for her love and attention, as well as a motivating factor for the walks he must take daily.
March 1999
Sammy-Born on 1/16/98. Family moved to a new house on the golf course and decided not to keep him. He was adopted and became a brother of Dweezil in Atlanta, Georgia. Both boys and hu-parents are living happily ever after.
February 1999
Gizmo aka Cliff- 14 week old puppy with health problems came from a backyard breeder that couldn't afford vet care for him. We nursed him back to health and he is now living under the name of Tucker with his Bichon brother Winston.
Nikki- 12 year old Male with heart problems. His owner was very sick and unable to care for him. He was placed with a nice older family and is now being taken good care of.
