2009 RESCUES ADOPTED INTO NEW HOMES

Benny & Elena adopted 2008

BICHON FRISE RESCUE RANCH, Inc., A 501c3 Non-Profit, Corporation.

  DAISY: Came to rescue when her previous family was overwhelmed and didn't want her any longer.  She has found an excellent new home with one of our Boarding clients who have a Boston Terrier who fell in love with her while he boarded over Thanksgiving.   New Hu-dad got lots of tail wags and kisses when he came back to get her, and she thought new mom would be OK too...Thanks Dennis and Judy!    You have been loyal clients since we established here in Nov. of 1999 - and we are glad to know we will have another 10 years with your new baby visiting regularly.

Hi Pam & Heather,

Here's Fluffy! She wasn't responding to "Daisy" and several other names we tried, but seems to like Fluffy; and she is just a little fluff ball, isn't she? She tried every doggy bed when she came in the house, and I think she likes all of them.  This picture is from one downstairs that she just plopped in as if to say, "This one is just right!"

She was asleep in the crate in the laundry room just now, but she discovered that Rocky & I had come upstairs, so she followed us & now is in my lap while Rocky is in the big doggy bed. Oh, the  life...

And of course, she sleeps with us at night! Last night was more restful than Sat. night, since she's used to being there now. She stayed by me last night; Sat. she kept moving between Dennis & I, but very contented to be stretched out in the big bed.  She likes to sleep on her back in the bed and next to Dennis in his chair-what a crack up!

Fluffy's very smart & is learning what's ok & what's not. She's very responsive to NO, knows which way to go out when she needs potty (she holds her bladder for hours tho!), and has enjoyed 2 walks yesterday, one with each of us.  She scampers up & down the stairs with ease, and has figured out how to jump from Dennis' chair to the foot stool to my La-Z-Boy with ease!

We left the 2 of them in the laundry room yesterday while we were gone to church for about 2 hours.
There's a crate in there (she likes to plop in the crate-we leave the door open) & a big dog bed. When we drove in the garage, we heard her yipping up a storm, and she was SO HAPPY to see us when we let them out! Such excitement-wow. :-)

I mix the salmon/potato kibble with the food I make for Rocky (ground beef/rice/green beans) - she leaves most of the kibble in the bowl-but just loves the Rocky food. Rocky always has Milk Bone Biscuits after each meal, but she doesn't really like to chew crunchy stuff, does she?

She's eating, sleeping, and behaving quite well! I'm taking her to Cottage Vet this afternoon & bringing copies of all that you gave me.  Will let you know what Dr. Sandy says about her neck. She has been licking her paws off & on, but she stops when we distract her.  She's a very sweet girl and her energy level goes along with all of ours - she can stop & rest from busy activities or a walk and nod off just like the 3 of us do!

Thanks for the new addition to our family~I'll keep you posted on how Fluffy and Rocky are doing.
He's very sweet with her when she piles in next to him in a doggy bed, or jumps in my lap when he's already lying next to me. He's much nicer to her than Tuffy was to him when we brought him home at 8 weeks (she was 3)!
Jz, Dz, Rz & Fz!

  GWEN:  Was a very shy 6 year old who will hopefully perk up and be a great companion dog for Darlene, who was very excited about her.  Paws crossed they will both live happily-ever-after in their senior years together.

  OLIVER (Left with Steve) found a new forever home with "Ruffles" (Right) when Ruffles sister passed away leaving Ruffles alone in the world.  Oliver and Steve will have a great time playing together and Ruffles won't feel alone any more.

Oliver is doing very well.  He's a great dog and I think I picked a winner.  We have had some issues with Ruffles but she is getting accustom to him.  I have also been right there to gently, firmly and consistently correct him if he get's aggressive with her  I think that is a better approach than to get 'heavy handed' - esp with a high energy dog like Oliver.  He has a great personality and spirit and I would hate to do anything to damage that.  He's finally getting the idea not to bother Ruffles.

I have been working on training (sit, stay, come, drop it).  We were in the park Sunday and Oliver started eating leaves.  I put my hand under his mouth and said 'drop it' and he released the leaves into my hand.  I immediately and heartily praised him.  He seemed really pleased with himself.

I was thinking he would be a great agility dog.  I will have to look into that.
Take care,
Steve Redding

  BUBBA:  Was very shy because he had been abused.  He is only 1.5 years old, but will get lots of love and attention now, so hopefully will turn into a more confident dog.

  PEANUT (LEFT) is a real sweetheart, but not too keen on strangers or children.  He will now have a doggie sister as well as new parents to love on him.  By the time they left, he thought they were just swell!

  NIKO:  Is a 1.5 year old who was given up when his owner could no longer afford him due to loss of a job.   He will be kept very busy playing with these boys, who were wanting a playful, yet cuddly new friend.

BABY ADOPTED THANKS TO PETSMART!

Pam,

This is Josephine McKee, Baby's new mom.  She came in right after Casey groomed her and fell completely in love.  I did not know a lot about baby.  Thank you for the call, I don't know if it was you or another person at the rescue who gave us a call yesterday.  Anyway, Josephine filled out the adoption application, and asked me if she was potty trained.  Since we did not know, I asked her what she would do if she were not.  She has a kennel and was very willing to put the commitment into baby's potty training if needed.  Her Shih Tzu had passed away a while ago, so she had been looking for a new companion.  She had been bringing her in for her grooms at the store, so she knew it would be a commitment of having Baby groomed as well.  And she thought Casey did a wonderful job on her too.  I let her go home to think about it, said I would find out some more information in the mean time.  I never like to just adopt out a pet on the first visit, trying to recognize an impulsive decision on the part of a pet parent.  I called her back last night with the information we received on Baby and her history.  Did not scare her at all, she does not have cats.  She has grandkids in the 7-17 age range and was thrilled that we called back.  Baby really took to her, prancing through the store with her new mom was a sheer delight to see.

BEAR ADOPTED THANKS TO PETSMART!

Here are the pictures you requested.  It was an absolute joy to have Bear in the store.  I'm not just saying that because I fell completely in love with him myself, he was a delight.  All the associates loved having him and were very excited to talk about him with the pet parents.  Even though it did not work out at my own home, after many tearful days of going back and forth, I was so glad that this family came in and fell in love with him as well.  I spoke with Casey today (Monday) and she said she would be seeing you this week sometime.  Did you want us to send the money and contracts with her?  Or, we will send you them in the mail?

We would love to partner with you again.  Having a dog in the store 7 days a week was truly a joy for us all.  We would love to find another forever home for another one of your pups.  Just give me a call at the store 303-393-9156 would love to speak with you or email me at my home.  Hope to hear from you soon.

  TRIPOD and Mark are best of buddies.   Mark has been great about loving on this guy and at home they already have two smaller older dogs that will be good role models for Tripod.   Mark has been doing volunteer work for us for the summer and we are so happy to thank him with a puppy he fell in love with, that needs all that love.

Freddie< was part of a massive puppy mill rescue.  He has some issues, but is just coming along fine working on his trusting humans, and he definitely trusts his new hu-mom and dad as he did not even shiver and shake when they held him.   We are so happy that someone is willing to give him a new start on life after living 5 years in a nasty kennel in a nasty barn

Sammy has the bad habit of marking territory, and needs a neuter to take care of that issue as well as strict training.  His new family have had Bichons for years and are happy to give him love and discipline.   His new hu-sister "Tia" wants to be a vet, what a neat goal in life.

"FLUFFY"   an 8 year old Bichon Frise diagnosed with diabetes now under control, but he will need daily insulin injections and special food to help keep it in check. Fluffy’s owners are unable to keep up with his scheduled insulin and decided they needed to find him another home. Thanks to combined efforts of: Mallory Bednorz,  Client Relations Manager Broadway Animal Hospital, 1405 S. Broadway Boulder, CO 80305    303-499-5505, we were able to find him a new FOREVER home.   Love it when we all work together for the benefit of a dog!!!

  MAXX:

Pam - Today was a wonderful day for Max!  As he how has a new home and will undoubtedly receive all the love and attention any dog could want, please remove him from your list of those "in need".  We were contacted by a friend of a friend of Melissa's who had gotten word of Max's plight.  And, the 2 hour visit was delightful to witness. We have no doubt that Max and his new mom are the perfect match.

Please know that I am so grateful for your generosity of time and talents on Max's behalf.  Watch your mail as I will be sending a donation in support of the loving and unselfish work you are doing.

Thanks Again and the Best of Luck to You -
Linda B

  BELLA - ADOPTED THROUGH PetSmart on Gartrel & E-470 303 400 4778)  a 1.5 year old Poodle-Bichon mix who is very very sweet.

Hi!
We went to Denver to adopt Bella. We just love, love, love her! We wanted you to know she is adjusting incredibly!!!!!!!! She follows me around everywhere. We don't have any small children at home just my 18 year old daughter Amber who is the one who found Bella online.  Bella is going to be very well taken care of, she has a large fenced in yard with flowers and a lot of green grass! She loves the doggy door and hasn't had an accident in the house yet! She is very intelligent and catches on fast! She is going up and down stairs with no problem since we live in a finished ranch home, she was hesitant at first though! She slept with us all night in our bed---------I think that might have been a mistake but she loves it!  We just bought her a huge sheepskin bed of her own so we will try that out tonight! We are so happy to have her here, we will send you some pictures soon!  How many times a day did she eat? We would like to make the transition as smooth as possible.  She is cuddling with me on the couch as I write too you, she is SO LOVABLE and we love it! My husband is an insurance agent and works out of our home, so she will not be alone! I work two days a week for US AIRWAYS at the Colorado Springs Airport so I will be with her almost all the time as well! We take walks everyday and Bella will come with us, I think she will love that! We will keep in touch with updates but she is going to have a wonderful, stress free and SPOILED life! That's the way it should be!

Take Care,

Denise Aragon

  POCO - was snatched right up by Kathy and her husband when she heard he was coming to rescue.    His previous owner was devastated to be unable to financially care for him any longer, but will be thrilled to know Poco will be loved completely by his new family.

Baby 10 yrs. old Female Bichon who's owner died leaving her and her two Bichon "brothers" homeless.  She is going to a great new home in Nebraska to keep a 14 year old Chihuahua company after he lost his company recently.   Both hu-mom and BamBam will be very happy to have her to hang around, and Baby will now have another dog brother to hang with as well.

  'BUDDY"  also part of the 3 dogs who were homeless when their owner died, got a perfect new owner with Wayne, who'd other 9 year old Bichon had been attacked and killed by another dog.    He was so excited to get Buddy he drove out here soon as he saw Buddy on the website.     His daughter was his biggest advocate saying she will care for Buddy if anything happens to dad, and Wayne's son paid Buddy's adoption fee.    And, small world, Buddy's old vet is also Mr. Raggs (Waynes other dog) old vet, so Buddy will continue with his vet who brought Buddy and his siblings to us in the first place.

    BUSTER was one of 3 dogs left homeless when his owner passed away and no family were able to take them in.    He found a great home with this nice woman who was on our "wait list".     Hopefully his two siblings will also get adopted soon.

 thank you petsmart  for another successdful adopt-a-thon weekend:

  BORIS AND NATASHA

  BAILY At 7 years of age was having pee wars with his owners who had enough.  He was fine with us, and found a great new family in Colorado Springs who will watch and make sure he behaves himself.

LETTER FROM NEW OWNERS:

    We got home with Bailey...no car problems.. He has adapted extremely well.  No need for pee-pads. He learned to go out for walks almost immediately.
  He has taken over the responsibility of being our 'security person'...really in charge of the
doorbell. We have almost stopped his barking with serious word correction and finger pointing. He really wants to please us.
  He has met, nand made friends, with several other dogs in the complex. No fighting or growling...very compatible.
  He doesn't like the 'Vet' though. He received new rabies and three year health shots, but would not ley\t the 'Vet' near his mouth or head...no such problem with Laurie and I. I can
rough his head and mouth area in play with no problems.
  'Pets-R-Us' does not have a store in Colorsado Springs. So far I have had to go to a
feed & grain store; Circle F. qnd purchase frozen lamb chunks, a canned 'Lamb & Rice'
supplement which has worked quite well.
  Wanted you to know 1) we love him...2) he loves us...3) sleeps on the bed with us...
follows me everywhere...seems very contented.
  ...We feel that the 'new owners'   and 'the dog' came out winners.

                                                         Tom & Laurie H

  'BUDDY" Was surrendered when his owner on a fixed income, found out Buddy had Diabetes.   Fortunately Buddy being sweet and loveable was easily adoptable to a vet tech who would be able to follow all his medical needs.

LADY: Came to us needing bladder stone surgery and a new home.   We were able to hold a rally for money and find funds for surgery and find her a new forever home.  Yippeee!!!!

  Carlotta was part of a group of pups needing new homes and - got a great family with Miki, and her "family"

Also adopted but waiting on photos:   Chico, Carlos, Carmen and Chica

Tugger was very shy and needed a new stay at home family with another dog...he got Lori to step up to his list of needs and she adores him!

THANK YOU PetSmart FOR PLACING THE FOLLOWING RESCUES FOR US:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
CODY's elderly owner was unable to care for him any longer so he came to stay with us.  This wonderful lady needed a dog to keep her  company so they found each other via the i-net.   Another match-made perfect.
TOBY: did not adjust into his new home but went happily into this one.   He now has another dog to play with and a lovely lady to dote on him.
BELLA:  Darling little Shih Chon girl went to keep Kaigo company in foster care and ended up being a permanent member of the family.    How could you return such a sweet face after spending time with her.    We are  looking for Foster Families, so if you have time and room for an additional 4-legged creature to visit while we look for a home, please contact us.    You don't have to keep them if you don't want to.   But if you fall in love...
SPROCKET:  Got a new lease on life in the blink of an eye --- he came in and then out to a family who had been on our wait list for a nice social young dog.   Doesn't hurt to have that RESCUE PRE-ADOPTION FORM in our hot little hands to refer to as we get dogs in.
"LYLA" NOW KNOWN AS "BELLA"  Came to us a a matted, rejected dog from a shelter who found her wandering loose.   Donna fell in love with her even when she was a mess, and came back and adopted her with her friends David & Magda.   She will now be pampered pet as she deserves!
SWEET PEA:  Got a new home when Bob and Liz brought their Bichon and Shih Chon in for a groom and I sent her home with them...She will be in great company.
GRACIE:  Needed to work on some anxiety issues, so she is finding a new home with another dog to keep her company and new human children to keep her busy as well!.     YEA!!!
MEGGIE, is here with her new dog sister Jody and new parents Vern & Karne, who got a shy Jody so are use to workimg with shy dogs.   We are positive that give time Meggie will be wagging her tail and jumping in parents laps just like Jody.
Dear Pam,
Just want to tell you Sophie has made an amazing adjustment to her new home, and we love her so much (I think the feeling is mutual!).  There are pictures in the mail to you...thank you so much,
Sincerely,
Mickey  & Abbey
