~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  MARCIE:  is moving to Alburquerque to be with her new owner.   She got a home just after Christmas and will get much love, as her new owner has had Bichon's before and loves them!
    PEGGY & CASPER: needed a home when their elderly owner could no longer care for them.   They got adopted together, which is a wonderful thing for them.
  OLIVER:  Rescue "Harry"  got adopted the night before Connie & Wayne were scheduled to visit.   Fortunately Oliver became available at the same time.   His elderly owner was in the hospital not expected to ever leave and with the holidays so close it was scary for his owner thinking Oliver would have to go to a shelter.   Connie met up with Oliver's human grand-daughter, jumped in Connie's lap and went home.  He is now in a great situation.
HARRY and his Harem!   He got a great family to watch over how excited for the last of the 3 - "Tom, Dick and Harry" that were left homeless when owner died.
LOVER:  a 4 year old Shih Tzu needed a new home, and she found a great one!
MITZI: was part of a large puppy mill shut down.  She is very shy and not very confident with people.  She was adopted by some very patient kind older woman who lost her loved pet a few weeks ago.  She will show Mitzi that humans are not all bad.
TOMMY:   was part of a group of dogs found in a garage after the owner passed away.    He was adopted by this nice lady from Wyoming who's pet of many years passed away and left her lonely.
DICK: was part of a group of dogs found in a garage after the owner passed away.    He was adopted from PetSmart by a client who had gotten another dog from us many years ago.   Thanks as always for the support!
BENNY & ELENA BOTH GOT ADOPTED INTO A WONDERFUL NEW HOME WHEN WE POSTED AN SOS FOR BENNY --- DICK & SUE HAD GOTTEN A DOG FROM US WAY BACK WHEN WE LIVED IN HIGHLANDS RANCH, AND HE HAD PASSED ON LEAVING THEM A VOID IN THEIR LIVES.   BENNY LOVED SUE AND DICK LOVED ELENA, SO THEY TOOK THEM BOTH!   YIPPEEE AND THANK YOU!
1/28/09 Dear Pam,  We hope Benny’s experience helps someone else.  He was just too nice a dog to lose, and I knew from your website – even before we met him – that he belonged with us.  Keep up the good work.  Sue:
Just wanted to give you an update on Benny.  We had to make the agonizing decision to remove his right hind leg and pelvis.  The cancer had infiltrated throughout his major muscles and sciatic nerve and was heading toward his spine.  We saw this ourselves on the MRI results which we thankfully authorized.  Without the MRI we would have gone ahead and simply tried to remove the tumor followed by radiation which, due to the advanced stage, would have only delayed the inevitable and caused all of us more grief.
Benny had his surgery on  13.  He was walking by the 14th and home on the 15th.  He’s still on a lot of pain medication but eats, drinks, pees, and poops without difficulty.  He hates his plastic collar but won’t be in it too much longer.  Stitches come out on the 28th.  The pathology report shows no further sign of cancer and clean margins.  Elena is being very devoted to Benny and even stopped pooping in the house after we brought him home.
All in all, the most difficult decision turned out to be the best one.  We’re hoping for a full recovery and a normal doggie life for Benny
Fluffy & Feiffer
Were in a shelter in Canon City and needed to be "busted out".   We posted an urgent need on the website and they found a new home - together!   Thanks to all you who lurk and assist us for our financial and adoption needs!
"EMY" FKA: FLUFFY:  Center:.  She was part of a large puppy-mill closure.  Fluffy found a perfect home with Helga and Maly, who had been on our wait list for a smaller dog for companionship for both.   Helga will cook for Fluffy since she has allergies and they will all get lots of exercise and love.   Seen here with Helga's neighbor and the neighbor dog "Peanut" who take walks and share playtime.
Some recent photos of Missy.  She is growing into such a nice adult Bichon, weighs about 20 lbs now which is probably her adult weight.  She's settled in to the house nicely; had a little regression while I was in Sitka for 10 days and gave the petsitter quite a time, but the minute I was back she was happy.  Separation anxiety is so much better; she does love to 'go' and is a perfect lady in the car.  She's getting better about jumping and nipping; it seldom happens now unless she is extremely excited about something.
She's growing up; turned 2 in September and I can see the changes every day in the way she interacts with Toto AND the biggest stride forward is she is not being aggressive with the cats, and I actually caught her washing their ears the other day.  She's figured out her place and her forever home and is losing the feeling that if I leave she's abandoned.  So some relaxation in her which transmits into better behavior on all fronts.  She's had her first Alaska snow and came in to the house weighed down with snowballs stuck in her curly fur.  So off to the groomer today to take her down to a shorter cut for 'snowball' season.  She wears her little hoodie proudly and it will keep that cold snow off her bare belly!
KRYSTIN:  Was a "Fuzzypups!"  Shih Tzu mom who we retired and she is "just the perfect" dog for her new owners - who think she is just adorable!
We got a call from one of the local shelters about McKenzie = who is an American Eskimo, saying we needed to take her, or she was heading down that long corridor we don't talk about.   So, we call ABRN and their American Eski volunteer said that if we could foster, she'd find her a home.  And by golly - that's just what happened.  We fostered, and they found her a great home with one of their own volunteers!   Don't you love it when we work together for the dogs?!?
CASPER:  found a new home after his owners were unable to spend as much time with him as before.   He'll get lots of attention now!
MACK: was homeless after his older owner passed away.   Our good friend "Maggie" lost his wife then his dog, so he needed Mack to help his breaking heart.
LAMBCHOP: was left homeless when her owner moved away leaving her behind.   Her new owners got a rescue from us years ago who passed away and they were in need of another doggie.
ADOPTED THANKS TO PETFINDERS.COM!   MIA: a little 1 year old Shih Chon was turned in when her family had to move to California - major downsizing - and could not take her with.   Just in time as this family really REALLY wanted a puppy and dad was holding out for just the right one ---
ADOPTED THANKS TO PETFINDERS.COM!  FAJITA: retired from Mommy-hood and will get to retire with these wonderful retirees...what a match made in heaven!
 NICHEE:  looks as happy as her new owners!  She got a wonderful new home when she actually was almost "E" with the shelters as she was a bit nippy with her previous family.   We are so happy for all, as her previous family didn't want her put down either.
ADOPTED THANKS TO PETSMART! ELLA:  AN OLDER "FUZZYPUPS!" SHIH TZU WHO'S NEW MOM IS SO EXCITED AS SHE ALWAYS WANTED A SHIH TZU...SHE BOUGHT A WHOLE CARTFUL OF PINK THINGS FOR OUR GIRL!
ADOPTED THANKS TO PETSMART! KURT: AN OLDER "FUZZYPUPS" SHIH TZU WHO'S OWNER HAD BEEN WAITING TO COME DOWN FROM THE MOUNTAINS TO ADOPT.  SHE ENDED UP WITH A GREAT PUPPY AND IS SEEN HERE WITH KAITLYN, WHO ACTUALLY WORKED FOR US DURING THE SUMMER AND IS NOW A TRAINER WITH PETSMART.
  ADOPTED THANKS TO PETSMART! CAGNEY - A LITTLE SHIH TZU GIRL WHO HAD EVERYONE STANDING IN LINE WANTING TO ADOPT HER.  THE LUCKY NEW OWNERS IS A GROOMER WITH PETSMART AND SHE WILL KEEP HER GORGEOUS AS BEFITS HER PEDIGREE.
CHLOE:  a very sweet 1.5 year old Bichon will help fix the broken heart of Dawn & Dave - who lost their pet store puppy to Parvo.  Just a short time with a Bichon made them BF lovers for life --- yea for Chloe!
BUBBLES:  Was on death row in a shelter when we "broke her out".  She  found a great home with Jim & Carole - thanks to PetSmart - where they saw and fell in love with her.    THANK YOU PetSmart!
  "BREE" was a little girl who ended up in a sweet situation with these two ---
"KAIGO" just kept keeping mom awake at night once she saw him on the web and then in person, so she had to come back and take him home to sleep with her instead of in her dreams...
'MIL-LANA" aka "MIMI"  will keep this family an even number of dogs and laps.   She was a challenge at first as she was fearful of everyone, but Mike worked with her making her his house pet until she decided people were fine after all.  When she met her new mom and dad, she rolled right over for a belly rub -
DEETO, was adopted by one of our boarding clients since she and Rosie got along so well.    That's always a good thing.
QUEENIE - was a stray found in Pueblo, transfer up North to a shelter and then showed some "aggression" over food, so was slated for destruction.  We felt that she was too young for this future and bailed her out.  She is only 9 months old and all puppy.   We took her in, then took her PetSmart and Ryan and his mom fell in love -  Yippee for everyone.  They promise to be at the picnic.
  TEDDY:  A retired breeding male found a great home with Debi
